Cavity walls
This is the second of two reports on home insulation from Italy and Spain where the use of cork granules has been established for many years. In the UK, the Cork Federation would always recommend taking professional advice when installing insulation materials and to comply with local building regulations.
Quick and non-invasive installation
Cavity insulation can be done from inside or outside the building. One of the most appreciated features of insufflation is the speed of execution which makes it an ideal solution for those who want to improve the energy efficiency of their home without inconvenience and without having to interrupt normal household activities.

How is insufflation done?
The process is very simple and can be completed in a few hours. Holes are made in the walls and, using a special machine, natural cork granules are blown in until the available space is completely filled. The intervention does not require significant structural modifications and can be carried out without any visible aesthetic impact, but with immediate results in terms of insulation.

Living comfort and well-being
The use of cork improves living comfort, not only from a thermal point of view but also acoustically by reducing noise from outside and regulating humidity inside the home. Thanks to its breathable properties, cork helps maintain a healthy internal microclimate avoiding problems of condensation or mould.

Compatibility with existing buildings
In Italy insufflation is also carried out in apartment buildings without involving the common areas. If the condominium has an empty cavity inside the perimeter walls, they blow natural cork granule material through small holes made on the surface of the wall, ensuring uniform distribution and without thermal bridges.
