Breakthrough insulation technology transforming social housing, historic properties, and public buildings

CorkSol UK Ltd has won the Gold award for “Innovation” at the recent 2025 #iESE Public Sector Transformation Awards for the most innovative practice in transforming local public services.*

In their citation, the judges said CorkSol UK’s product ‘SprayCork’ was “a breakthrough insulation technology transforming social housing, historic properties, and public buildings. At just 4-6mm thick, it improves energy efficiency, eliminates mould, and preserves heritage features while cutting maintenance costs.”

With proven success in projects for ‘Together Housing Group’ which owns 38,000 affordable homes in the North of England, ‘One Manchester’ – a housing association with more than 12,000 homes in Manchester and multiple other councils, the judges said “SprayCork offers a scalable, cost-effective retrofit solution helping the public sector meet Net Zero and reduce fuel poverty.”

* iESE is a not-for-profit organisation created by local authorities in the UK as a shared resource to transform public services and retain experience within the sector. With over 16 years of experience in public service improvement, iESE claims to have delivered real savings of over £1 billion for its members and clients: https://iese.org.uk.

The awards ceremony took place on 5th March 2025 at Church House at Westminster in London – an historic building that hosted the first meeting of The United Nations in 1946 – and which itself was refurbished by CorkSol UK in 2024.

Receiving the award, Joff Ward mentioned a recent BBC2 TV Panorama investigation which said over 600,000 British homes are affected by damp and mould and said “We still need to do more in the UK to tackle the issue of mould – especially treating the root cause, rather than trying to find a short-term fix. And that is why we are so proud of this award – because it’s recognition of the solution that already exists.”
